15 Best Phoenix Distilleries We Highly Recommend

Are you traveling around Phoenix and want to know the best distilleries in and around the local area? Don’t worry, because we’ve found 15 of the best distilleries in Phoenix that we can’t recommend highly enough.

Adventurous Stills

Adventurous Stills is a small distillery in Tempe, where they offer tours, tastings, and numerous craft cocktails. Established in 2015, their drinks are served all over different bars and restaurants in Arizona (see also ‘15 Unmissable Arizona Distilleries You Should Check Out‘). Not only do they hold tours, but they also offer private events for guests to enjoy.

Unfortunately, Adventurous Stills isn’t open on Mondays or Sundays, but it is open 12 PM to 4 PM from Tuesday through Thursday. However, on Fridays they are open from 4 PM to 9 PM and on Saturdays they’re open from 1 PM to 8 PM.

Wild Hare Distillery

Serving the Tempe area, Wild Hare Distillery is home to Drove Agave Spirits and is free from additional sugars. The tours are informative, and you can taste the different spirits they’ve made. Whether you want to visit with friends or have a small party, Wild Hare Distillery will ensure you feel welcome.

If you want to visit Wild Hare, we should note that the opening hours are limited. The only days they are open are Friday and Saturday, being open from 3 PM till 8 PM on Friday, and 1 PM till 8 PM on Saturday. Every other day, they are closed.

Arizona Distilling

Established in 2012, Arizona Distilling is a place where you can go and enjoy locally made spirits. They make some of the best cocktails in the area, and they also offer tours of the distillery to show how they make their drinks. Whether you want cocktails, bourbon, gins or vodka, there’s something for everyone here.

If you want to visit Arizona Distilling, they are open from 4 PM till 10 PM from Sunday through to Thursday. On Friday, they stay open later until 12 AM, and on Saturday, they have extended hours of 11 AM till 12 AM the next day.

Desert Rock Winery & Distillery

If you enjoy wine and spirits, then you might be interested in visiting Desert Rock. Established in 2015, the business began in 2006 in Napa before moving down to Scottsdale (see also ‘10 Highly Rated Distilleries In Napa Worth A Visit‘). This is a popular destination that many people enjoy visiting, and it’s no wonder with the great hospitality offered here.

Unfortunately Desert Rock is closed on Monday and Tuesday, and is open from 2 PM to 7 PM on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. On Fridays, they open a little bit earlier at 12 PM, while on Sunday they are open all day.

Absinthe Minded

If you’re a fan of absinthe, then you’ll be pleased to know that there is a dedicated Absinthe distillery in Tempe, Arizona. While it is produced in Adventurous Stills Distillery, Absinthe Minded has their own tasting room where you can try out the different flavors.

We should note that they are closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays. However, they are open from 5 PM till 9 PM on Thursdays and Fridays, and open from 1 PM to 8 PM on Saturdays.

Carefree Spirits Distillery

If you head on over to Cave Creek, you’ll find that Carefree Spirits sells some of the best bourbon and vodka in Arizona. Their aged Carefree Bourbon is famous, and now they’ve established a high quality Chakra Vodka which is perfect with ice. If you’re in the area, head on over to Carefree Spirits to also enjoy some great hospitality from their bartenders.

Generally, they are open from 12 PM till 9 PM, but on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays, they close earlier at 7 PM.

SanTan Gardens – Brewery & Distillery Tours

If you enjoy brewery and distillery tours, then you will love the SanTan Gardens tour. You’ll visit the different stations and sample each product through each stage of production, where your tour guide will answer any questions you may have. You can then purchase any merchandise or spirits that you want to enjoy at home.

During the week, they are open from 3 PM to 8 PM, with an earlier opening time at the weekend of 12 PM.

Blue Clover Distillery

Blue Clover is both a distillery and restaurant, where you can enjoy craft cocktails and food freshly made from the kitchen. Nowadays, you can even enjoy brunch on your visit. You can enjoy bottomless cocktails, and brunch on Sundays from 11:30 AM to 3 PM.

If you want to visit Blue Clover Distillery, we should inform you that it is closed on Monday and Tuesday, and it opens late on Wednesdays. Wednesday hours are 3 PM until 9 PM. Thursday through to Sunday, they open at 11 AM, with Sunday closing at 7 PM, Thursday closing at 10 PM, and Friday and Saturdays closing at 11 PM.

OHSO Brewery + Distillery

Located in North Scottsdale, OHSO is a distillery that serves great food with their locally made craft beer and spirits. They offer tours on site around OHSO, and offer private indoor and outdoor spaces for rent. If you want to try any, you can just ask for a sample. Established in 2014, OHSO has just been getting more and more popular with each visit.

OHSO is open every day of the week, with opening hours of 11 AM till 10 PM on weekdays. At the weekend, you can expect earlier opening hours, with the distillery opening at 9 AM instead.

Black Mountain Tavern & Distillery

Black Mountain Tavern & Distillery is seen as a hidden secret in Cave Creek, with delicious food ready to be served, and friendly bartenders ready to serve. You can enjoy a selection of cocktails from this distillery, all while enjoying different games on the TV.

If you want to visit, they are open at 11 AM every day, with a 9 PM close on Sundays and weekdays. On Friday and Saturday, you can expect a slightly later closing time of 10 PM.

CaskWerks Distilling Co.

CaskWerks is a distillery where you can expect to try a wide variety of different drinks. Here you can enjoy the different spirits they make, and you can also arrange a tour, tasting session, and even group events. Ideally, you should make an appointment for an event, as that is truly where CaskWerks specialty lies.

If you want to make an appointment, they are open from 3 PM till 7 PM from Thursday through to Saturday, and are closed all other days of the week.

Thumb Butte Distillery

While it is a bit more distant from the other distilleries, Thumb Butte is an incredibly popular distillery in Arizona. Renowned for their spirits which they make in Prescott, Arizona. They have opportunities available for you to sample their wares and take a tour of the distillery. You can also arrange for your own private party too.

If you want to visit Thumb Butte, you should know that they’re only open around the weekend. They open at 2 PM on Friday, where they will close at 8 PM. Saturday and Sunday has Thumb Butte open at 12 PM, but it closes at 6 PM on Saturday and 4 PM on Sunday.

Whiskey Del Bac

Located in Tucson, Arizona, Whiskey Del Bac is a popular distillery where you can take a tour and find out how they make their single-malt whiskey. You can sample their products, and you’ll find that many of the local businesses also sell Whiskey Del Bac.

If you want to visit, then they are open everyday from 11 AM till 2 PM.

Desert Diamond Distillery

Even if it is a short drive away from Phoenix, if you want to go further for your distillery tours, then you should consult Desert Diamond Distillery. You can enjoy a behind the scenes tour and purchase some delicious cocktails and enjoy a possible tasting session.

To visit, you should know that Desert Diamond Distillery is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but are otherwise open from 10 AM until 5 PM, with a later close of 6 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Hillis & McGee Moonshine Distillery

Hillis & McGee are a combination of two families who have been brought together by their love of distilling. With over 250 years of family history, their goal is to teach everyone about how they make high quality alcohol. Currently, they are still preparing to officially sell alcohol on site, but you can always go and visit to enquire or check out the gift shop.

If you wish to visit and enquire more, then you can visit Hillis & McGee any day of the week from 10 AM to 5 PM.
