Ouzo Distilleries in the United States

Ouzo is an anise-flavored liqueur that is undeniably Greek. It's enjoyed both as a stand-alone drink, and in various ouzo cocktails. Its distinct taste comes from the local distilleries which use a traditional recipe from the best ingredients, often times locally sourced, like star anise, coriander, cinnamon and mastic. To enjoy Ouzo the traditional way, lightly dilute ouzo with some cold water and add ice cubes to sample its distinctive taste. Ouzo can be made in large industrial factories as well as small craft distilleries throughout Greece. Although Ouzo can officially only be called Ouzo if it's made in Greece, you will find a few distilleries in the United States making their version of this anise-flavored liqueur. If you can't find an American-Made Ouzo version, you can use Absinthe as a substitute.
