When it comes to the Southwest, Arizona distilleries are some of the best. With six locations in Metro Phoenix alone, the Grand Canyon State has much to offer the craft distillery enthusiast. If you’re looking for a great place to start off your tours in the Southwest, Arizona is a fantastic choice.

Arizona is one of many “license” states for the production, distribution, and selling of liquor to the public, making it a desirable place for local distilleries to set up shop. As you tour different nationwide distilleries, you’ll notice that there’s much more incentive for distillery businesses in “license” states than “control” states.

If you are looking for the most efficient tour of Arizona distilleries, your best is an all-inclusive tour designed for tourists. However, if you prefer to daringly chart your own course, starting in Phoenix certainly wouldn’t let you down. Just outside of the Phoenix metro area, there is a distillery in Cave Creek, too – a short 45-minute drive.

If you’re looking for road-trip-friendly Arizona distilleries, there is a distillery in Lake Havasu City a few hours west of Phoenix. North of this, you’ll find Desert Diamond distillery in Kingman, AZ. For those wishing to venture north of Phoenix, Flagstaff and Williams both have wonderful distilleries to offer. Finally, you’ll find Flying Leap Vineyards & Distillery to the south in Elgin, AZ.

As you’ll notice, about half of the Arizona distilleries are spread out across the state. If you want to hit as many distilleries as possible in a short amount of time, Arizona does have many big-city distilleries right in the capital – which is home to a large airport. This makes planning a shorter trip very easy. However, if you have the time, we encourage you to visit some of the outliers – they’re run by great people with a passion for distilling.
