Delaware Distilleries

Are you planning a trip to “The First State”? If so, you’ll find that this small state is home to some pretty amazing distilleries. There may not be very many Delaware distilleries, but what the state lacks in number, it certainly makes up for with quality and passion.

If you’re flying into the only large airport in Delaware, you’ll be arriving in Wilmington. This city is located in the northern tip of Delaware, pretty far removed from any of the Delaware distilleries you’ll be looking to visit. However, it only takes about an hour and forty minutes to travel from Wilmington down to Rehoboth Beach where you’ll find the last Delaware distillery to visit in this state.

Considering that there are about six other distilleries between the airport and Rehoboth Beach, hitting all of the Delaware distilleries won’t be too difficult. In fact, this state might be one of the easiest to check off your bucket list. However, don’t stop with the distilleries you visit – you’ll be missing out on a big piece of what Delaware has to offer.

As far as history is concerned, this state is chock full of it. Being the first state that ratified the United States Constitution, there are plenty of sites and museums to visit while you’re enjoying your distillery tours. Furthermore, Painted Stave Distillery in Smyrna has, in the past, put on some amazing lectures about the history of distilling in Delaware. When you visit, make sure to check out what each distillery is planning – you might be in the right place at the right time to enjoy some very interesting shows!

Since there are so few Delaware distilleries, planning out your tour through Delaware should be quite simple. We hope you enjoy the rich history and distilling excitement that Delaware has to offer!
