Ohio Distilleries

“The Buckeye State” is home to some pretty amazing Ohio distilleries – more than fifty, to be precise. Combined with the fact that this is a deceptively large state, getting to all of the Ohio distilleries would certainly be a chore. Luckily, though, many of your destinations are within reasonable driving distance of Ohio’s most popular airports.

While Cleveland-Hopkins International might be the largest airport in Ohio, it’s really not your best bet for getting into the big cities where most of the distilleries are. You could fly into Cincinnati Municipal Lunken Airport, putting you in a city with five distilleries and within an hour of six more in the following cities: Newtown (19m), Oregonia (39m), Middletown (43m), Wilmington (51m), and Martinsville (58m).

If you do feel like heading up to Cleveland, it’ll open up the door for a few more, but the real win will be if you drive up through Columbus – there are eight Ohio distilleries in that city. Depending on how you want to divvy up your trip, though, Ohio certainly has plenty to offer you right in and around Cincinnati.

If you’re like us and you really want to experience the best of the best in Ohio distilleries, you’ll be looking at Middle West Spirits in Columbus, Straitsville Special Moonshine in New Straitsville, and S and G Artisan Distillery in Yellow Springs. These second two will take you on a bit of a trek, but they’re well worth the drive.

And, what’s better for enjoying the beautiful Ohio scenery than a road trip out to one of the best Ohio distilleries? Regardless of how you choose to spend your time in Ohio, we know you’ll have a great time – just don’t forget to check out things like the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and so much more!
