Puerto Rico Distilleries

Puerto Rico is one of the territories of the United States, off the coast of the Dominican Republic. The incredible history you’ll experience in Puerto Rico is reason enough to visit, but this island territory also has several Puerto Rico distilleries for you to check out while you’re there. There aren’t many Puerto Rico distilleries, but you’re in for a treat if you decide to check them out.

Puerto Rico is a great vacation spot, being warm pretty much all year long. If you find yourself vacationing here, be sure to check out its six Puerto Rico distilleries: PitoRico in Jayuya, San Juan Artisan Distillers in Vega Alta, Don Q Rum in San Juan, Crab Island Rum Distillery in Isla de Vieques, Ron del Barrilito in Bayamon, and (of course) Casa Bacardi Puerto Rico in Catano.

If there are two Puerto Rico distilleries you definitely don’t want to miss, it would be the last two in the aforementioned list: they both have amazing guided tours that will take you through the history of distilling for that particular company, let you taste spirits, and even show you how to mix up some delicious cocktails.

San Juan Airport is the largest airport in Puerto Rico, making it likely the best place for you to fly into. From there, San Juan is 10 minutes, Bayamon is 24 minutes, Catano is 25 minutes, Vega Alta is 38 minutes away, and Jayuya and Isla de Vieques are both two hours away (in different directions)

Keep in mind that, since there’s so much else to do while you’re in this territory, Puerto Rico distilleries might not end up being your priority – especially if it’s your first time on this island. Enjoy your time here, kick back, put your toes in the sand, enjoy the sunshine, and sip on some cocktails made with local rum!
