Fox Trail Distillery Spotlight

There are few distilleries in Arkansas, but Fox Trail Distillery would stand out even amidst dozens in the state. Let’s take a look at why Fox Trail Distillery is a stand-out option; we’ll also cover their spirits and some reviews for this Ozark distillery.

What Makes Fox Trail Distillery Special?

“Rugged yet refined.”

Fox Trail Distillery is located in the Ozark region of the Southeast, located in Rogers, Arkansas. They were the first distillery in Northwest Arkansas, a great achievement for this small-town brand. Over the years, they’ve built a stellar reputation for their delicious small-batch spirits, aged and bottled on-site.

“Our drive is to capture the imagination of our guests by providing an unforgettable experience and the tools for a cultivated beverage lifestyle.”

Distillery Equipment

According to AyMag.com, “Fox Trail was equipped by famed German engineer and designer Arnold Holstein.” The pieces were crafted in France, then shipped to the United States. The pieces were assembled on-site and are strikingly beautiful. The set-up they use is a hybrid pot-column still that combines the best of both worlds.

What Spirits Does Fox Trail Distillery Offer?

Fox Trail Distillery offers seven different spirits, each with their own unique flavor profiles and the very same dedication to quality. Let’s cover all of them:

Wild Parallel Straight Bourbon Whiskey

49.5% abv

This is a straight bourbon whiskey crafted with 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. It has a full-bodied flavor and has notes of spice, oak, honey, and dried fruit.

It is lean, mean and provides a strong punch.” – AyMag.com

Recommended cocktails: Sleepless in Toronto, Beach Bonfire, Wild Parallel Sour, Manhattan, Trailside Old Fashioned.

Wild Parallel Toasted Oak Barrel Finish

49.5% abv

This bourbon was aged first in charred American Oak, and then finished in seasoned and toasted oak. Barrel Banter described it as having “standout notes of Smarties candy and banana Laffy Taffy.” It’s also described as having a brightness to its profile and the entire experience is muted by a slight oakiness. AyMag reviewer, Brian Sorensen, described it as being “smoother than the straight bourbon whiskey and… perhaps an easier entry point for someone new to bourbon.”

Recommended cocktails: Sleepless in Toronto, Beach Bonfire, Wild Parallel Sour, Manhattan, Trailside Old Fashioned.

Wild Parallel Islay Scotch Barrel Finish

50.5% abv

This is a very interesting sip that will remind you of traditional scotch but also call back to sweet, caramel-y bourbon notes. Fox Trail describes it as having “subtle notes of peat and campfire.”

Recommended cocktails: Sleepless in Toronto, Beach Bonfire, Wild Parallel Sour, Manhattan, Trailside Old Fashioned.

Wild Parallel Guyana Rum Barrel Finish

49.5% abv

This is a unique finish on their classic bourbon. Finishing in rum barrels gives this bourbon notes of tropical fruit, spice, and a whole host of aromatics. The rum is strong on the nose but incredibly soft on the palate; it complements the sweetness of the bourbon well.

Recommended cocktails: Sleepless in Toronto, Beach Bonfire, Wild Parallel Sour, Manhattan, Trailside Old Fashioned.

Small Batch Boxley Vodka

40% abv

No flavors, water as the primary ingredient, and purity at its core, the Boxley Vodka is a great option for cocktails where a neutral spirit is required.

Recommended cocktails: Saturdaze, Boxley Mule, Latitude 36, Boxley soda, Early Bird, Cold Brew Martini, White Russian.

Oak & Bean Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur

25.28% abv

This coffee liqueur is “Sweetened with natural sugar in the raw and spiced with cassie, clove, & vanilla.” It’s finished in a unique way, too: in used bourbon barrels from their bourbon lineup. The coffee used for this liqueur is Airship Cold Brew Coffee, and they roast the beans themselves.

Recommended cocktails: Early Bird, Cold Brew Martini, Sleepless in Toronto, and White Russian.

Artanical Gin: Ozark Botanical Gin

44% abv

This small-batch gin is handcrafted, 100 gallons at a time. They use vapor infusion to infuse flavor and non-chill filtering to preserve their gin’s natural silky, rich texture. It’s a high-proof gin, too, which means that it can withstand dilution in cocktails (like a gin and tonic) while still delivering delicious botanical flavor.

Recommended cocktails: Clover Club, Bramble, Negroni, and Gin & Tonic.
