15 Best Pigeon Forge Distilleries We Highly Recommend

Despite the town’s history as a dry town, there are several distilleries that you can visit in and around Pigeon Forge. Even if you’re planning on visiting Dollywood, there’s so many more options available to you.

To help you find out where you’re visiting next, we’ve compiled a list of 15 of the best distilleries in and around Pigeon Forge that we highly recommend.

1. Old Forge Distillery

The Old Forge Distillery is a locally family-run business that specializes in making moonshine and cream liquor. The Old Forge offers a variety of different flavors of moonshine, including french toast, coffee, and chocolate flavors.

If you want to try any of them, you can, with tastings offered at the cocktail bar which is open each day. If you want to visit, just head over to the heart of Old Mill Square. They’re open everyday from 10 AM to 9 PM, so you can enjoy plenty of time at the cocktail bar.

2. Ole Smoky Moonshine

Established in 2010, Ole Smoky is Tennessee’s first legal moonshine distillery. Officially opening its doors in 2010, Ole Smoky makes authentic Tennessee moonshine in the heart of the smoky mountains. They dabble in a variety of different flavors, including apple pie, blackberry, and many more seasonal flavors too.

If you want to try any of them, head on over to Ole Smoky Moonshine. It’s open from 10 AM to 11 PM, where you’ll find not only free samples, but live music to enjoy too.

3. Junction 35 Spirits

Established in 2019, Junction 35 Spirits is Tennessee’s first distillery and restaurant. Not only are you guaranteed some amazing handcrafted spirits, but you’ll be able to enjoy some great American dining too. You’ll find that the spirits under the Junction 35 label promises a treat.

Whether you’re looking for moonshine, vodka, rum, gin, or whiskey, you’ll find it here. You’ll find Junction 35 Spirits at Teaster Lane, where it is open from 11 AM to 10 PM each and every day.

4. Tennessee Shine

Tennessee Shine is a family business who has evolved their own signature recipes to share with visitors. With a history of moonshiners going back to the Prohibition era, Tennessee Shine was officially established in 2015.

They offer a friendly atmosphere, regardless of whether you’re local or traveling from far away. Regardless, if you’re visiting, you’ll be guaranteed some excellent customer service with a laid back atmosphere that makes Tennessee Shine stand out.

If you’re looking for them, you’ll find Tennessee Shine on Teaster Lane, open from 10 AM to 9PM on Monday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday closing later at 10 PM, and limited hours on Sunday from 12 PM till 7 PM.

5. King’s Family Distillery

Established in 2018, the King’s Family Distillery is run by husband and wife team Justin and Cara King. With over a decade of experience in the whiskey industry, they have worked hard to curate their recipes for whisky, vodka, gin, and many more.

If you prefer whiskey and bourbon, then you may prefer this distillery, but they also offer a fine selection of vodka and rum (see also ‘Can You Mix Rum And Vodka?‘). Only down the street from Dollywood, King’s Family Distillery is a must-see for any whiskey and bourbon lovers.

Just head on over to Upper Middle Creek Road, where they are open from 10 AM till 8 PM, with later closing times on Friday and Saturday evenings.

6. Smith Creek Moonshine

Smith Creek Moonshine was established in 2014, and since then, they have offered 13 distinct and unique moonshine flavors to each bottle. Their gift shop is incredibly popular with visitors as there is always such a range of flavors to choose from.

They offer free tasting, and the customer service is laudable, as everyone working there is knowledgeable about distilling. Smith Creek Moonshine is located in the Pigeon Forge Parkway, not far from Ripley’s Old MacDonald’s Farm Mini Golf. They are open every single day from 11 AM to 7 PM.

7. Shine Girl

While moonshine may appear to be a male-dominated area, that doesn’t mean there aren’t women-run distilleries. Shine Girl is one of the latest establishments, having officially opened in 2022.

With over 8 years of experience, by visiting Shine Girl, you can try something new. If you’re not a fan of throat scorching drinks, then this is the distillery for you. Seen as a hidden gem, you can visit Shine Girl with your pets too, as pets are allowed.

It is open from 12 PM to 7 PM on Monday through Thursday, with 11 AM till 8 PM hours on Friday and Saturday, with Sunday hours being 12 PM till 6 PM. If you’d like to visit, head over to Jenkins Road in Sevierville.

Smoky Tours is a distillery tour with a focus on moonshine, whiskey, and vodka. You’ll learn all about the area, and all about the distillery’s history while on tour here. As a 24 hour business, you can contact the owners at any point to arrange a booking. Not only that, but they cover the Gatlinburg area, so you can contact them in Knoxville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville.

9. Tennessee Legend Distillery

Established in 2015, the Tennessee Legend Distillery is run with a love for the Smoky Mountains. They craft their own spirits, shines, whiskies, and sipping creams too.

Everyone who works at Tennessee Legend has their own knowledge of distilling and are happy to share their knowledge and make your experience great. If you want to visit, you’ll need to head to Winfield Dunn Parkway in Sevierville.

They’re open from 9 AM till 10 PM from Monday to Thursday, with hours extended to 11 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, with an earlier close at 9 PM on Sundays.

10. Gatlinburg Brewing Company

Gatlinburg Brewing Company can be found in Sevierville, Tennessee, where this locally owned business regularly has live music performing. You can sit indoors or outdoors, and you can even bring your pets too.

Not only are there delicious drinks to try, but there are some excellent foods for you to try as well. If you’d like to visit, just head on over to Winfield Dunn Parkway, where Gatlinburg Brewing Company is open from 12 PM to 1 AM everyday.

11. Old Tennessee Distilling Co

Originally known as Thunder Road Distillery, in 2019, they became Old Tennessee Distilling Co after five years under the old name. Known for having some of the best tasting Moonshine in the area, you can try different samples of moonshine, mixers, and whiskeys here.

The staff is friendly, and there’s some affordable cocktails too. If you want to visit, you’ll need to travel a bit further to Kodak. From Monday to Thursday, they’re usually open from 10 AM to 9 PM with the hours shifting to 9 AM to 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 10 AM to 7 PM on Sundays.

12. Sugarlands Distilling Co

Located in Gatlinburg, Sugarlands is a popular distillery that specializes in craft moonshine and whiskey, where guests are encouraged to take samples and enjoy behind the scenes tours.

You can try the different flavors for $5 and you can enjoy the variety available. If you want to visit Sugarlands, they’ll be open 10 AM to 10:30 PM everyday.

13. Doc Collier Distillery

Down at Doc Collier’s Distillery, you can enjoy a host of delicious flavors to try. All of these samples only cost around $5 to try, and you can even purchase a sample box on the way out. It’s a perfect location for anyone who doesn’t want to be in too crowded an area.

If you want to visit, they’re open from 10 AM from Monday to Saturday, where they are open until 9 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 8 PM on weekdays. On Sundays, they are open from 12 PM to 7 PM.

14. Company Distilling

Located in Little River in Townsend, you can enjoy hand-crafted cocktails, free samples, and take a tour through the distillery. Not only are there great drinks, but this is one of the best places to enjoy a taste from their permanent menu.

If you want to visit, then they are open from 11 AM to 8 PM from Tuesday to Saturday, with the business closed on Mondays and Sundays.

15. Bootleggers Distillery

Located in Hartford, Bootleggers is one of the smallest batch distilleries in the country. They specialize in custom runs and were established in 2015. If you want to visit, they’re open from 9 AM to 7PM everyday but Sunday, where they’re open from 10 AM till 6 PM.
