Smith Creek Moonshine: A Retail Destination Shopping Experience

The marketing team behind Smith Creek Moonshine has worked hard to create an authentic image for this moonshine. However, finding information and data to back up the carefully crafted marketing messaging is hard. Unlike other moonshine and spirit distillers, Smith Creek focuses more on establishing retail locations. The distillery focuses on showcasing flavors, themed retail spaces, and various souvenir items. This ultimate guide will help you understand why so many people think Smith Creek Distillery is one of the best distilleries out there.

Flavors

Currently, there are 13 flavors in the Smith Creek Moonshine lineup. However, this number can change as new flavors are added, or seasonal limited edition flavors are produced. The flavors range in harshness and intensity. The straight and vodka flavors are the harshest moonshine flavor offerings. This is because they lack the flavor that can mask the harsh bite of the alcohol.

The smoothest flavors are coffee, butter cake, salted caramel, and chocolate silk. These moonshine flavors have the strongest presence that masks the harshness of the alcohol.

  • Straight
  • Sweet Tea
  • Peach
  • Apple Pie
  • Chocolate Silk
  • Coffee
  • Orange Cream
  • Lemon Lime
  • Butter Cake
  • Salted Caramel
  • Cinnamon
  • Vodka
  • Strawberry Shortcake

Smith Creek Moonshine Tastings

You can head to any Smith Creek Moonshine retail location to enjoy free tastings. There is no limit to the number of moonshine flavors you can try. However, remember that moonshine is a strong alcohol. Tasting all of the flavors could result in you feeling the effects of alcohol. You must be 21 to participate in the tastings.

Distillery Operations

Despite having four retail locations, this is not where the moonshine is made. Smith Creek Moonshine is made in Sevierville, TN. The brand does not readily advertise this. There is no distillery location that you can go and visit or tour. There is also no claim that the moonshine is a small batch crafted. Essentially, this moonshine is ideal for the drinker who does not care about the crafting process and is more interested in drinking alcohol that tastes good.

Locations

Smith Creek Moonshine operates four retail locations, two in Missouri and two in Tennessee. Each location is designed to have an Ozarks aesthetic. Three of the locations have a 1941 Ford prohibition-era moonshine hauler sitting in the store as a display for the moonshine. In addition to the moonshine, the stores have dry rubs, sauces, jams, apparel, and souvenirs.

Branson, MO- Brandon Landing

The flagship store for Smith Creek Moonshine is the Brandon Landing location. It is 5,000 square feet of retail, bar, and restaurant space. It has a large moonshine tasting and mixology area. There is also a hamburger restaurant located in the store. There is also an in-store distillery on display. However, it is not the main distillery for the brand.

Branson, MO- Tanger Outlets

Out of the four locations, this one is the least themed and looks most like a standard retail store. It also is the smallest retail location. The tasting bar is quite small, so this wouldn’t be the ideal place to go if you are looking for an immersive and memorable experience. However, it is perfect if you need to pop in and grab some supplies on your way to a party.

Pigeon Forge, TN- Tanger Outlets

This is probably the second largest and more elaborately themed store behind the flagship location in Brandon Landing. The outside and inside are extensively themed to look like a log cabin nestled in the heart of the Ozarks. Jars of moonshine line the walls, with a large tasting bar prominently situated in the center of the store. It makes sense that they went all out when designing this location. Pigeon Forge is a shopping destination with plenty of things to do, and Smith Creek Moonshine needs to compete with another heavy hitter with a retail location in Pigeon Forge, Ole Smoky Moonshine.

Nashville, TN- Opry Mills

The newest retail location for Smith Creek Moonshine is in the Opry Mills Center in Nashville, TN. It has a theme entrance, but inside, it has less themed aesthetic detailing than some of the other locations. This store has a large retail goods section, while the moonshine is mainly located along one wall.

Moonshine Cocktails

While Smith Creek Moonshine tastes great on its own, not everyone wants to take shots or drink their alcohol straight. To help people enjoy their moonshine more, the team at Smith Creek has created a list of cocktails using the moonshine. Each recipe gives you a list of ingredients and directions for making the cocktail. They are simple and easy to follow, making them perfect for even the most amateur bartender.

  • Captain’s Pie
  • Birthday Cake Shot
  • Almond Mocha
  • Pappy’s Mountain Milk
  • Shiner’s Coffee
  • Ginger Moonshine Mule
  • Citrus & Thyme Shine
  • Orange Shandy
  • Peach Margarita
  • Shiner’s Wife Mary
  • Creamy Caramel Shake
  • Copper Arnold Palmer

Tours

You cannot go on a tour of the distillery facility where the moonshine is made. This is unfortunate because many other Tennessee distillers welcome the general public to come and tour their operations. The retail locations are small enough to walk around them independently without needing a tour.
