Tattersall Distilling Spotlight

Officially known as Tattersall Distilling, this distillery brand is also known as Tattersall Distillery by locals. With a cocktail room located in the heart of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the distillery proper located in River Falls, Wisconsin, this brand has a presence in two states! In fact, the two are only 45 minutes apart by car (on a good day with no traffic). Let’s take a look at what makes this distillery so special – and one to visit if you’re in the area.

What Makes Tattersall Distilling Special?

“You deserve amazing cocktails.”

Aside from being one of the most popular watering holes in Minneapolis, Tattersall Distilling has several other things going for it. Namely, its dedication to utilizing local farms for grains and produce. Let’s take a closer look:

Grains

Family farms supply the corn, wheat, rye, and barley that Tattersall uses to craft their vodka and whiskey. This family farm is located in Cambridge, Minnesota and is owned and operated by a fourth generation farmer – Dale Anderson.

The distillery’s organic corn comes from Western Minnesota; from this, they make their liqueurs, gin, and aquavit. Finally, any specialty grains (and malts) come from Briess Malt and Ingredients Co. in Chilton, Wisconsin.

Barrels

Tattersall Distilling uses barrels that come from two cooperages in Minnesota – from partners who are committed to high-quality wood, toasting, and charring. Two cooperages used are Black Swan Cooperage and Atlas Barrel.

Berries & Fruits

All of Tattersall’s berries and fruits used in their products come from cooperative and family orchards like Shoreline Fruit and Organic Breezy Hill. Tattersall likes to use blemished and the visually “unappealing” fruits to make their products. Rather than go to the trash, they get turned into delicious spirits!

A Commitment to Sustainability

Another factor that sets Tattersall Distilling apart is its dedication to sustainability. They are consistently looking for ways to cut their carbon footprint down. Efforts include composting “all botanicals, food waste, straws, cups, and more.” Furthermore, all the used grains from the fermentation process are kept and picked up on a weekly basis for pig feed.

What Spirits Does Tattersall Distilling Offer?

“…all of our grains are sourced in Minnesota — with a majority only 45 miles from our front door.

Now, let’s take a quick look at the different types of spirits that Tattersall Distilling produces. There are so many, so we’re just going to briefly cover each category. We recommend you go browse their full selection at https://www.tattersalldistilling.com/all-products/.

Aged Spirits

Tattersall offers thirteen different aged spirits, and they have everything from a five-year rye to barreled gin. There’s something for everyone in this category, all barrel-aged with barrels from local cooperages.

Clear Spirits

Five clear spirits make up this category: Rosso Gin, Tightline Organic Vodka, a standard Gin, a standard Vodka, and an Absinthe. These spirits are great in mixed drinks and cocktails since they are crisp and clean.

Liqueurs

Tattersall has ten different liqueurs, offering a great variety of flavor to add to cocktails. They have amaro, bitter orange, blueberry, fernet, cranberry, sour cherry, creme de fleur, lime crema, grapefruit crema, and orange crema.

Specialty Products

In their specialty category, you’ll find pre-mixed cocktails served in bottle portions – so be careful! They have brandy old fashioned, corpse reviver #2, cosmo blanco, old fashioned, manhattan, bootlegger, and salty dog bottled cocktails in 750mL bottles.

Canned Cocktails

Finally, they also offer canned cocktails in flavors like grapefruit ginger, blueberry collins, whiskey peach tea, key lime g&t, and watermelon bootlegger. Perfect for backyard barbecues and sitting by the pool!
