New Mexico Distilleries

Did you know that New Mexico is called “The Land of Enchantment?” That’s a pretty big name to live up to, and as far as New Mexico distilleries are concerned, there’s certainly a good number to choose from. There are more than twenty distilleries in this state, and they’re all worth checking out. If you have trouble picking which to go to, we have some suggestions for you!

You really couldn’t be more set up for success than here in New Mexico. The greatest density of New Mexico distilleries is, by far, in Albuquerque, and the Albuquerque International Sunport is the largest airport in the state. In this city, you’ll find eight distilleries alone: Wanted Brewing and Distilling Company, Vara Winery & Distillery, Taylor Garrett Spirits, Safe House Distilling Co., Left Turn Distilling, Hollow Spirits, Distillery 365, and Broken Trail Distillery & Brewery.

Visiting all eight of these Albuquerque New Mexico distilleries is – obviously – going to take you some time. If you want an efficient trip to knock New Mexico off of your state list, Albuquerque is the place to be. However, if you want to get out of the city, you also have options.

Algodones is certainly the closest, coming in at only 24 minutes outside of Albuquerque. Here, you’ll find the appropriately-named Algodones Distillery. You’re also well-poised to travel an hour to Santa Fe, where you could stay the day and hunker down in a hotel at night. In Santa Fe, you’ll have two New Mexico distilleries at your fingertips: Altar Spirits, Aztec Spirits, and Santa Fe Spirits Distillery.

If you’re looking to visit the best, most top-rated New Mexico distilleries, you’ll be looking at Don Quixote Distillery & Winery in Los Alamos (3 hours) and Altar Spirits in Santa Fe. However, regardless of which New Mexico distilleries you choose to visit, we know your time will be well-spent!
